It has been a while...

Well, I haven't posted an update on things for a while. We have posted
quite a few photos, but not a story update.

Chronologically working backwards, there have been quite a few
significant events, not the least being that it is almost 1 year since
we moved across to the US from Sydney. Quite a significant milestone.
Looking back over the past year there have been some definite
highlights:

our holiday to California, Vegas and the Grand Canyon; weekends away
to Connecticut, Boston and Rhode Island; heading to Maryland and down
to DC. Hitting DisneyWorld was fun as well.

Numerous work trips to many great destinations: Toronto, Chicago, San
Diego, Houston, Dallas and Florida

Also, having a great time merging into the New York lifestyle. Haning
out at our favourite places around the city; seeing the snow in
Central park; lazing by the pool on the rooftop of our gym; enjoying a
cold beer watching the sunset over New Jersey. All great fun and great
memories.

Work has been varied, exciting, challenging and satisfying. I have
learned a lot professionally, and also have had several great projects
which have really added excellent value to satisfied clients.
Friends and family visiting has been great. We have been very
fortunate to have quite a few people come and visit and showing people
around the city, chatting about old times, new experiences and just
hanging out is fantastic. We could never grow tired of it.

So many fantastic memories and experiences all packed into 1 short
year. Although, the year has just flown by. It seems that it was only
yesterday that I was staring at the subway map wondering if I would
ever have a clue which lines went where. The neighbourhoods were a
confusing set of lines on a map. Now they are places I know, and
recognise.

The same questions that I couldn't answer when I arrived, I still
cannot answer now and they are still the ones I am asked the most. How
long will I be here? What exactly do I want to achieve here? How many
things are there that can kill you in the outback?

One thing is sure, we miss home very much. We miss the people, the
places, the things we did and the fun we have had in Sydney.

We have found many great places in NY, met many new friends and caught
up with old friends who just happen to be here now. It is very
different from home but we have have carved out our comfortable little
niche here in NY.

We have tons of things planned for the coming year, places to go,
challenges to take on and friends to catch up with.

The next few weeks are going to be lots of fun - watch for updates and
photos as soon as we can.

That's all for now.
